While the following points are not exhaustive / complete
/ up-to-date, we intend to throw some awareness related
to Internet Fraud in this section:
Usage
of Credit Card for online payments
- Do not store your complete credit card details
on any website unless you personally know and trust
the company.
- Ensure that the web page where you enter your
credit card details is a secure page [Look for https
in the URL and / or look for the 'lock' sign on
the bottom right]
- If you receive any suspicious email from any individual
or company and if you are not sure about the originating
source, do not click on any links in the email to
process an online transaction or to enter confidential
information such as your user id and password.
- Many banks offer 'virtual' credit cards for internet
use where your risk is greatly reduced. Check with
your bank for relevant details.
How
to protect your password
- Never share your eExchange password with anyone.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
If you suspect your password has been compromised,
change it immediately.
- Select a password that is unique and difficult
to guess. As a general rule, it is a good idea to
choose a password that uses both letters and numbers.
Avoid using a password that is easy to figure out;
do NOT use your email address as your password or
other common passwords such as "password,"
"<yourname>" etc.
- Change your password frequently.
- Do not use the same password that you currently
use for any other online services.
